This year we reinstated once again the annual spelling in which SAC students from Kindergarten through 8th grade studied and practiced with their homeroom or English teacher to secure a spot in the school-wide competition that was held on January 13th. The bee followed the guidelines from Scripps National Spelling Bee. Students were required to study a long list of words and to memorize the proper spelling of challenging words from the List of Champions, which is a requirement to win the bee. We awarded medals to both the 2nd and 1st place winners and a plaque to the 1st place winner. The winner of the SAC school competition will have the option of continuing on to regionals next year, based on his or her readiness and availability. Augustus Marasas the 2nd grade won the first place followed by Zeynep Erdogan from the 8th grade at the second place and then Osman Qarni from 6th grade at the third place .
