Each year at SAC we have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner event, celebrating all we are thankful for. Staff work together to organize and cook the dinner led by our Events and Activities Coordinator, as a thank you to our guests for their support. Our 8th grade students participate by serving the meal and all families are encouraged to send in a short video of what they are thankful for. The event often includes a teacher wishlist where guests can donate to a teacher and a silent auction to raise money for a school-wide purchase. To name a few items from past years, auction and donation funds have gone towards making SAC a 1:1 device school allowing us to purchase iPads and Chromebooks for 100% of our students, updating our social studies curriculum, updating teacher computers, and providing each classroom with ELMO projectors. Each year the success of this event grows, building community engagement, school culture, and family/staff relationships.
