Science Academy of Chicago has an eLearning program in place should campus become inaccessible due to weather or other emergency reasons.
Simply put, eLearning is learning utilizing electronic technologies to access educational curriculum outside of a traditional classroom.
eLearning allows students to continue learning from home without adding additional days to the school year.
In the event that campus becomes inaccessible due to weather or other reasons, our faculty is prepared to deliver lessons electronically. We hope this will assist students and parents to understand our commitment to delivering high-quality private school education, as well as our high expectations of students to do their very best each day. Assignments will be aligned with what the class is currently doing and will continue to move the curriculum forward. Teachers are available via email office hours from 9:00 – 2:00 pm each school day to answer questions and guide instruction as needed. Students’ schedules follow a virtual daily meeting schedule. PK-third graders have daily meetings (Monday-Friday) with their homeroom teacher as well as two-three specials classes (PE, art, music, Spanish) per day. Fourth-Eighth grade students follow a daily virtual meeting schedule as well. Monday, Wednesday, Friday- students will have scheduled virtual meeting times with their teachers for core subjects (math, ELA, science, and social studies) Tuesday, Thursday – students will have scheduled virtual meeting times with their teachers for specials classes (PE, foreign language, art/music, and technology).
