Students at the Science Academy of Chicago participate in various competitions throughout the year. In the last few years, our students have participated and have received awards in all of the STEAM fields – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.

2024 – 2025
- 12 Gold Medal in Owlypia International Challange
- 12 Silver Medal in Owlypia International Challange
- 11 Bronze Medal in Owlypia International Challange
- #1 Top School Award. Paper and Poster session IJAS region 2 Science Fair 2025
- Math Olympiad, 16 students from 4th – 8th are qualified for the Global Final
- MathCounts Illinois State Competition qualified for the Illinois State Competition

- IL State VEXIQ Championship, Alpha-Z team, officially qualified for the State Championship

2017-2018
- #1 Best School Award out of 28 schools at the CONSEF Science Fair April 2018
- 7 “Best of” Category out of 13 categories at the CONSEF Science Fair April 2018
- 11 Gold, 7 Silver, and 1 Bronze Medal and 1 Honorable Mention for Projects at the CONSEF Science Fair
- 2nd Place in the Future City Competition 2018 located at University of Illinois at Chicago Student Center East where 16 schools competed
- Best Energy and Environmental Design from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2018 Future City Competition

- For the League’s Lake Division, the Robotics Team Shockwave ranked 5th Place among 25 teams in the FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics League
- In the Championship Matchup at Highland Park High School, the Robotics Team Shockwave qualified in 8th place among 23 teams in the FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics League
- Second Place in the State of IL for Grades 3-5 Illinois School Bus Safety Week of 2017
- Second Place in the State of IL for Grades 6-8 Illinois School Bus Safety Week of 2017
- Art Students in Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades participated in Art Exhibits at the Mount Prospect Library in February of 2017
2016
