Admission Procedure

To start your child’s learning journey at the Science Academy of Chicago, our website is a great place to start.  Please complete an interest form so that we can gather some basic information to initiate the admission process.    Once you completed the interest form, our enrollment coordinator will follow up with you shortly.  We also invite you to visit us at our  open houses where you can meet the teachers and the staff and get a tour of the school.

Admission to Preschool (age 3 and age 4)

The admission process for entry into our Early Childhood Programs is designed to assess your child’s social, developmental and intellectual readiness for the program to which you are applying.  Your child must be three years old by September 1^st and potty trained to enroll at SAC.

Overview of the Enrollment Process

1. Complete an interest form online or visit the school.
2. Schedule an optional Shadow Day where your child will spend a day in the classroom.
3. Come visit the school if you have not done so already. This can be done on the day of the Shadow Day as well.
4. Please follow  the “Document Checklist” and complete all necessary documents.
5. After an official application is submitted, the staff will evaluate the child’s test to see if he/she would be a good fit for the school.

Admission to Kindergarten through Eighth Grade

Applications for K to 8th grade require a tour, Shadow Day, Testing Date, and Enrollment Meeting before an offer of admission is administered.  Academic records are required, while academic recommendations are optional for consideration of admission at SAC.

The admission process at Science Academy of Chicago has been developed to ensure that the mission and curriculum of the Science Academy of Chicago are well matched to the individual needs of each child. Evaluating a child to determine whether he or she is a good candidate for our accelerated program is a multi-dimensional process. The Admission Committee uses all of the information gathered to determine whether the child would be well served by SAC’s program. 4. Submit an official application for enrollment including academic records.
5. After an official application is submitted, the Admission Committee will use all of the information gathered to determine whether the child would be well served by SAC’s program.

In order to evaluate an applicant, Science Academy of Chicago must have:

• A report of performance from previous school. (This must be an official transcript when available. If not, copies of the most recent report cards.)
• A record of any standardized test that was taken by the applicant.

1. Notify the principal of the school. We encourage you to schedule a meeting to discuss any specific issues or concerns. 
2. Reference the SAC Withdrawal Policy for specific procedures regarding tuition, fees due, or refunds.

All outstanding and current student billing accounts must be paid in full before Science Academy of Chicago will release official academic records/transcripts to another school.
