Leadership Curriculum

leadership

Leadership will  be integrated throughout all disciplines and classes at Science Academy. Students learn leadership in the hallways, at lunch, during recess, and while participating in their daily routines.

As children enter school, they are beginning to view themselves as part of a larger world, one that demands implicit and explicit skill competencies to be mastered.  Social skills play a critical role in children’s well-being and later development.  Science Academy assists children in mastering social skills by providing instruction.  It focuses on four direct instruction principles of learning: (1) modeling, (2) role playing, (3) performance feedback, and (4) transfer training.  Teaching social skills provides child with opportunities to be successful in real-life by practicing hypothetical situations.  Leadership includes both academic and social competence. Confidence is enhanced when students learn they possess the skills and the ability to effect change.

Science Academy students are taught to recognize that they are always a reflection of their family, teachers, and Science Academy, and learn to live the Science Academy Principles and Leadership Attributes on a daily basis.
